Lightning Round Artifact

If New York City where a state, it would be the state with the least energy use per capita. Dense cities are more efficient and use less energy than spread out suburbs.

  1. That's exactly what my research on bright green environmentalism revealed.

  2. I didn't know that, Christy. But it makes sense. With the presence of subways, taxis, buses (which seem to be your favorite mode of transportation here at Duke), and other forms of public transportation, the efficiency of such a system is evident. And though I may have thought that living in a suburb would be more in tune with nature and beneficial to the environment than living in a densely-packed city, I now know that this is not necessarily the case. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about this topic and others in our lightning round today!

  4. There is so much potential in these cities for improvement. Seriously, I think if we set out to make more cities "sustainable", the greater chance there is for technologies to trickle down into into the less efficient suburbia.
